Katakomb Lounge Bar

  • THE CLIENT

    클라이언트

    Katakomb Underground City, located at a basement level of a building in the Hongik University area, is a lounge bar on the Gothic theme. The name of the bar was inspired by the ‘catacomb’ in the Middle Ages. The brand identity of ‘Katakomb’ was intended as a space to be healed against oppressed life. By changing the ‘C’ in ‘catacomb’ to ‘K,’ in the naming, it intended to express a strong and bold brand image.

    홍대 거리 지하에 위치한Katakomb underground city’는 중세시대의 ‘catacomb’이라는 어원에서 영감을 받은 네이밍으로 고딕컨셉(Gothic concept)을 반영한 라운지 바입니다. ‘Katakomb’의 브랜드 아이덴티티는 억압된 생활에서부터 치유를 받는 공간으로 해석하고자 했습니다. ‘catacomb’의 ‘C’ 레터에서 ‘K’로 변경하며 네이밍을 개발함으로 강하고 볼드한 브랜드 이미지를 나타내고자 했습니다.

  • THE OBJECTIVE

    Katacomb's logo and visual identity reinterpreted the concept of catacomb to express a dark world while capturing modern refinement. We developed a unique identity design that would blend into the interior design that reflects the intense feeling of the overall Gothic style.

    카타컴의 로고와 비주얼 아이덴티티는 카타컴의 컨셉을 재해석하여 어두운 세계를 표현하면서도 모던한 세련미를 담으려 했습니다. 전반적으로 고딕스타일의 강력한 느낌이 반영된 인테리어 디자인과도 잘 어우러지도록 개성있는 아이덴티티 디자인을 개발했습니다.

  • THE SOLUTION

    해결방안

    For Katacomb's logo, we intended to express a classic mood by using a Gothic typeface. We created a consistent identity by developing a pattern on the ‘K’ logomark theme and reflecting it on the menu, bar chair fabric, sofa cushion, and wall graphic. We embodied the skull motif into an interior wall curtain made of brass to bring out originality and individuality. The skull motif is applied to patterns, badges, and operating supplies to highlight the difference.

    카타컴의 로고는 고딕타입(Gothic Type)의 서체를 활용하여 클래식한 무드를 표현하고자 했습니다. ‘K’ 로고마크를 모티브삼아 패턴화 하며 메뉴지, 바의자 패브릭, 소파 쿠션, 월그래픽 등에 반영됨으로서 일관성 있는 아이덴티티가 완성되었습니다. 해골(Skull) 모티브는 신주로 만든 인테리어 월커튼으로 제작되어 독창성과 개성을 살렸습니다. 해골 모티브는 패턴, 뱃지, 운영용품에 적용되어 차별성을 부각시킵니다.
